If you are looking for a spot that effortlessly channels the soulful, high-energy atmosphere of a classic New York City bistro right in the heart of Berlin, Bertie is the ultimate destination. It is a restaurant where sleek, mid-century design meets a vibrant neighborhood dining experience.
For this series, I stepped away from my usual 35mm point-and-shoot setup and chose to shoot digitally with my Fujifilm X-T30. Utilizing Fujifilm’s iconic color science allowed me to beautifully preserve the rich, organic tones of the space without heavy post-processing. The lens perfectly captured the deep warmth of the wooden dining booths, the polished textures of the bar counter, and the delicate interplay of light and shadow created by the soft ambient lighting. The result is a clean, modern, yet deeply intimate visual story.
The energy at Bertie is highly infectious, largely driven by the dynamic open kitchen. Documenting the chefs in action under the bright heat lamps provided a beautiful contrast to the moody, relaxed social vibe of the bar area.
