Joli Bistrot: A Tribute to Berlin’s Best Bistrot

If you ask me for my absolute favorite restaurant in Berlin, the answer is always Joli Bistrot in Prenzlauer Berg. This tiny, enchanting French bistro is everything that makes neighborhood dining perfect. Step inside, and you are instantly enveloped in a uniquely cozy, almost familial atmosphere. It is a place where time slows down, conversations flow easily, and the hustle of Berlin feels miles away.

To match this incredibly intimate vibe, I chose a raw and authentic aesthetic for this photographic series. The images were captured entirely on 35mm analog film using Kodak Gold 200, paired with a direct flash. This specific choice highlights the tactile textures of the exposed brick walls, the rich red tables, and the sparkle in the wine glasses. It created a cinematic, slightly imperfect, and entirely genuine portrait of a night out.

Beyond the striking visual identity of the space, the experience at Joli is defined by its heart. The food is simply a 10/10. Complementing the culinary excellence is the incredible service. The waiters are some of the most accommodating and friendly I have encountered in the city. If you are looking for an intimate dinner or a truly memorable evening in Berlin, I cannot recommend Joli Bistrot enough. Captured under direct flash to honor its unfiltered charm.
